The Magic of Thinking Big by David Swartz is a self-help book written in 1959 that has sold over 6 million copies.[1] At Georgia State University, Swartz was a professor of marketing and chairman of the department and Chair of Consumer Finance.[2][3][4] Later, he became a self-help coach, life strategist and founded a leadership development consultancy firm called Creative Educational Services Inc.[5][6][7]

The book greatly inspired: Thomas J. Stanley (Author of the book The Millionaire Next Door), the American football coach and sportscaster Lou Holtz and the basketball coaches Joe Harrington and Lefty Driesell at the University of Maryland.

Georgia State University awards an academic scholarship in his honor.[8]
