The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. Homeported at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California, it serves as the flagship for Carrier Strike Group 3.
On March 1 and March 5, 2026, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have attacked the vessel with ballistic missiles and drones.[1]
In August 2026, families and lawmakers raised concerns about reports of abysmal living conditions and deteriorating mental health among sailors on this ship amid its unusually long deployment. CNN reported that:

Then it was a reported that a month earlier a sailor had gone overboard, perhaps due to mental issues, and was rescued in rough seas.[2]
