Paula Pellerin Davis (born November 1973)[1] is a government relations specialist and lobbyist from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who is a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for East Baton Rouge Parish.
Davis won the position in the runoff election held on November 21, 2015 over fellow Republican Ryan Eugene Heck (born April 1978).[2] She also carred the special election to fill the remaining six weeks of the term[3] of Republican former Representative Erich Ponti, who resigned in June 2015.
In the primary, Davis led Heck by eighty-two votes. She thereafter sent out a mailer claiming that Heck, a member since 2012 of the Baton Rouge Metro Council and the owner of Cajun Ready Mix Concrete Company, had made errors in judgment and that his record does not commend him to service in the state House. Davis also stressed her own experience as deputy state insurance commissioner during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.[4] She prevailed with 6,679 votes (55.3 percent) to Heck's 5,400 (44.7 percent).[3]
A Louisiana native, Davis has resided in Baton Rouge since 1990. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University. She is a graduate of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy. She is studying design at the New York Institute of Art and Design. She is co-chair of the Baton Rouge Symphony League. Davis is married to John Davis, a lawyer in Baton Rouge. She has a daughter, Hayden. She is Episcopalian.[5]
Despite her Republican registration, Davis in 2008 was a $500 donor to the Democrat Don Cazayoux, a short-term U.S. representative who was unseated in the fall by Republican Bill Cassidy of Baton Rouge, who in 2015 became a U.S. senator.[6]
