Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904), was a Russian dramatist and short story author.
Career
He studied at the Moscow University qualifying as a doctor in 1884. He started as a writer with short stories (writing fifty in all) and sketches while a student.
He is most known for his plays, but these did not first appear until the last years of the nineteenth century. The most famous of these include The Cherry Orchard, Uncle Vanya, and The Three Sisters.[1] Chekhov is also noted for his influence on Naturalism, having been one of the primary playwrights performed by The Moscow Art Theatre and Constantin Stanislavski.
