Charles Oliver Brown was a congregational minister and bugler for William T. Sherman during the Civil War.[1]
Social Gospel
Brown's book Talks on the Labor Troubles is often mentioned [2] as one of the early clerical statements on American labor troubles.
The book is also important that Brown has been credited with coining the term Social Gospel.[3][4] Brown was inspired by Henry George's popular book, "Progress and Poverty".[5]
