The Shahada (Arabic: الشهادة; also transliterated as Shahadah) is the Islamic declaration of faith and the first pillar of Islam. The Shahada is written in full as "أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله" and pronounced in full as "ašhadu 'al-lā ilāha illā-llāhu wa 'ašhadu 'anna muħammadan rasūlu-llāh" in Arabic. The Shahada is generally translated as "There is no god but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God." but is also translated in similar phrases such as "There is none worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."[1]
