Loretta Lynch (born 1959) served as the 83rd Attorney General of the United States. She was nominated to succeed Eric Holder in the position by President Barack Obama on November 8, 2014. On April 23, 2015, she was confirmed by a 56-43 vote in the United States Senate.[1] She was sworn in on April 27, 2015.[2]
Lynch served as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York from 1999 to 2001 and again from 2010 until becoming Attorney General.
