Revelation 22:15 contains a condemnation of homosexuality that is either omitted from most modern English translations of the Bible, or ignored due to the use of the word "dogs" which, in the Greek text, actually refers to male homosexual prostitutes.
The phrase is found, for example, in the King James Version. The NASB translates this verse as:
| “ | Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying. | ” |
However, the Complete Jewish Bible translates the term as "homosexuals".[1]
Other references to "dogs" in English translations are probably likewise mistranslations of an ancient term that referred to homosexuals. Part of the error is attributable to an inadequate explanation of the meaning of the Greek term by James Strong in the 1800s.
