Disciplining means prohibition, punishment, restricting undesirable behavior. When disciplining a child, directives evoke negative experience as a result of child's aberrant behavior that can thus be slackened, restricted or completely removed.
The sole loving attitude and positive stimulus are not sufficient. A child that is guided and disciplined in an adequate way, gradually learns to discern socially acceptable and unacceptable forms of satisfying its needs.[2]
