She thereafter sent out a mailer claiming that Heck, a member since 2012 of the Baton Rouge Metro Council and the owner of Cajun Ready Mix Concrete Company, had made errors in judgment and that his council record did not commend him to serve in the state House. Davis also stressed her experience as deputy state insurance commissioner during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.[4] Davis received 6,679 votes (55.3 percent) to Heck's 5,400 (44.7 percent).[3]

A Louisiana native, Davis has resided in Baton Rouge since 1990. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University. She is a graduate of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy. She is studying design at the New York Institute of Art and Design. Davis is married to John Davis, a lawyer in Baton Rouge. She has a daughter, Hayden. She is Episcopalian.[5]

Davis handily won a second legislative term in the nonpartisan blanket primary held on October 12, 2019. She polled 10,892 votes (79 percent) to 2,924 (21 percentP for the Libertarian Ryan Chase Lee.[6]
