Slotkin was elected by a close margin in 2018,[3] a year that flipped House control towards the Democrats as a result of Paul Ryan's weak leadership.[4]
Impeachment coup
Slotkin, despite being elected from a Trump district, voted to impeach the president along with her party line.[5]
Reaction to U.S. airstrike against Soleimani
In response to the airstrike ordered by Donald Trump and his administration that successfully killed Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, Slotkin, showing an anti-Trump bias, stressed the importance of "consulting Congress" and that "the ultimate ends don't justify the means."[6]
Slotkin did not mention that the Obama administration had intervened against Israel's previous plans to kill Soleimani.[7]
