'The Donna Reed Show, an ABC situation comedy which aired from 1958 to 1966, portrayed the life of an American suburban family. Iowa native Donna Reed (1921-1986), is cast in the series as Donna Stone, an unselfish and resourceful housewife and loving mother.
The series also starred Carl Lawrence Betz (1921-1978) as Dr. Alex Stone, a pediatrician; Shelley Fabares as Mary Stone, Paul Petersen as Jeff Stone, and Patty Petersen as Trisha.
Though the show espoused inherent conservative values, Donna Reed herself was a Hollywood liberal.
