Good idea! I had not thought of that before because I just wanted to express my thoughts on the section, but this has turned out to be a whole lot longer than I thought it would be. I apologize for not thinking of this beforehand and I will definitely move this to an essay page. -[[User:Mr. Nationalist|Mr. Nationalist]] ([[User talk:Mr. Nationalist|talk]]) 01:09, October 23, 2021 (EDT)

Interesting articles

This article is not written by a conservative, as far as I know, but it argues (correctly, I think) that the Left is the cause of the rise of right-wing populism: [1] --1990'sguy (talk) 02:49, 28 May 2019 (EDT)

FWIW, I'd be careful about marrying conservative trends to the term "populism." The term from its origins, more than a century and a quarter ago, has always carried a pejorative connotation meaning something like "simpleton" or "naive." It was always associated with the left and Progressivism, until the rise of the Christian Right and Reagan Democrats in the 1980s. In the 1990s, leftwing academics coined the term "Rightwing Populism" to acknowledge the New Deal and Great Society coalitions were losing their grip on "uneducated" voters.
IMO, embracing the phrase "rightwing populism" is close to conservatives calling themselves "fascist," cause that is what leftists, who coined the phrase, intended it to be.
"Rightwing populism" is defined by leftists as "proto-fascist." RobSDeep Six the Deep State! 13:38, 28 May 2019 (EDT)
Here's another interesting article on the future of conservative populism in Europe: [2] --1990'sguy (talk) 16:13, 10 October 2019 (EDT)
Two conservative-populist parties entered the national parliaments of Poland and Portugal, respectively, for the first time: 1,2 --1990'sguy (talk) 19:45, 13 October 2019 (EDT)
This is a very interesting article (and a summary) discussing why right-wing populism isn't really succeeding in Canada -- and when it does, Canadian society will effectively disintegrate: 1,2 --1990'sguy (talk) 22:38, 19 October 2019 (EDT)
As the American term "rightwing populism" has been imported into the European and Canadian lexicon in recent years, the label "proto-fascist" has been carried with it.
Europe and Canada have no populist traditions. It's entirely new. Progressive populism never existed there. So "populism", as it's described in local media is one step away from neo-Nazi. RobSDe Plorabus Unum 11:58, 20 October 2019 (EDT)
Quebec is requiring immigrants settling in the province to pass a values test: [3] This could be added wherever appropriate. --1990'sguy (talk) 22:26, 30 October 2019 (EDT)

Notes on Distinction between right-wing populism and conservatism

Why don't you create an Essay on the subject? RobSFree Kyle! 00:57, October 23, 2021 (EDT)
