The National Secular Society is a British campaign group that seeks to end the influence of organised religion in British public life. See also: British atheism
It seeks to:
- End 'privileged' religious input to policy and law making
- Keep public services free from religious control
- Abolish the established church and remove its political and legal privileges
- Bring publicly-funded religious schools under local authority conrol and open them to all
- Abolish blasphemy laws[1]
The National Secular Society was founded in 1866 by the radical Charles Bradlaugh.
