A civilization state differs from a nation state in that it is much larger, with a longer history, and is not composed of a single national ethnic group, language, culture, or religion. Such civilization states that exist in the 21 centuries are the People's Republic of China, India composed of the majority Hindu culture, and the Russian Federation.
While the Islamic world consists of many ethnic groups, languages, cultures, and a long history, it has single religion and several competing nation states for Islamic hegemony, such as Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia. Formerly, the Islamic civilization was governed by a Caliphate up until 1924 under the Ottoman Empire.
