*Waltraud Meier, [https://youtu.be/g_ReUpnz_Ng Die Walkure], as Sieglinde (genuine pirate recording. Even in a concert performance made in what looks like a high school gymnasium with poor video and audio, Meier appears in character which is why she's considered one the greatest Wagnerian actresses of her time).

:*[https://youtu.be/jjKtUoAuR4w Henley Heyn / Der Männer Sippe]. Outstanding performance in this starter role (whatever happened to her?), especially her enthusiasm for the part. This was filmed in Los Angelas, I think, and the conductor and orchestra still have quite a bit to learn about providing balance for the vocalist. But Henley has no problem with it, and at no point is drowned out despite their lack of restrain.

:*Waltraud Meier and Barenboim. [https://youtu.be/wu02skyFCyI Liebestod]. (Outdoor performance, which is extremely difficult to engineer, somewhere in Catalonia, I think. I post it here to compensate in fairness to the performers for the poor video and audio quality of the above and to illustrate the teamwork of Meier, Barenboim, and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra made up of Palestinians and Jews founded by Barenboim).

Russia, Ukraine, and the Future World Order, Published online by Cambridge University Press: 27 October 2022
Russia's invasion of Ukraine, initiated on February 24, 2022, is among the most—if not the most—significant shocks to the global order since World War II.
I have contributed over 30 items to Conservapedia proven right since 2017, mostly on Russiagate, Coronavirus, and the NATO war in Ukraine.

Favorite YouTube recordings

  • Krzysztof Penderecki, Cello Concerto #2, Penderecki conducting with Siegfried Palm. (inspired by the Nazi invasion of Poland, 1939 when Penderecki was 6 years old).
  • Prokofiev, Romeo and Juliettt, World Orchestra. (all those female violinists know how to pump up the volume when needed).
  • Ravel, Daphnes et Chloe, Wilhelm Furtwangler 1944 restored. Comment: This magnetic tape recording was expropriated by the Red Army in 1945 and returned to Germany in 1986 as a gesture of good faith shortly before the Fall of the Berlin Wall when it finally became available to the public, marking the end of the Cold War. It is one of the earliest orchestral magnetic tape recordings made. In later issues, Deutsche Gramaphone engineers have reduced some of the over modulation, however Furtwangler's unique interpretative qualities are ever present.
  • Waltraud Meier, Die Walkure, as Sieglinde (genuine pirate recording. Even in a concert performance made in what looks like a high school gymnasium with poor video and audio, Meier appears in character which is why she's considered one the greatest Wagnerian actresses of her time).
  • Henley Heyn / Der Männer Sippe.
  • Waltraud Meier and Barenboim. Liebestod.
  • Richard Strauss, Alpine Symphony, Yevgeny Mravinsky, Leningrad Philharmonic 1962. (augmented brass you will not hear in other performances of this oft recorded piece).
  • Holländer - Die Frist ist um - Wagner. Incredible butchery, but a valiant determined effort. She even gets lost halfway through. This is what happens when you have somebody schooled in the classics of Mozart and Beethoven approach Wagner, and why the importance of the words. This doesn't takeaway from a person's technical skill. Wagner demands from the interpreter to put something of themselves into the performance, and not just rote memorization. The spirit of the music is missing. She's still learning, and may not ever pick it up. She did much better with Nur eine waffe taugt.
  • George London - Der Fliegende Holländer - Die Frist ist um - Bayreuth 1956. What the Dutchman's monologue is supposed to sound like in this near classic, definitive performance.
  • Richard Wagner: Der fliegende Holländer (Bayreuther Festspiele 2021), 720p. First ever performance by a female conductor, Oksana Lyniv, at the Bayreuth Festival. Although I have issues with the Third Act, I post it here cause the visual staging of the Overture is certainly worth review.

About me

I always wanted to be a music critic, but had to settle for writing on historical espionage subjects.
