South America
Continent of the Southern Hemisphere, and part of the Western Hemisphere. To the west it borders the Pacific Ocean, to the east it borders the Atlantic Ocean, and the Caribbean Sea and North America are northwest of it.
Like North America, it is part of the Americas, and it was named after Amerigo Vespucci. Being the fourth largest continent by area, it is 17,8400 km (6,890,00), and covers almost 3.5% of the earth's surface. (Largest continent by area is Asia, then Africa and North America.)
It is also the fifth continent by population. (First Asia, then Africa, Europe, and North America) In 2005, the population was over 371,000,000.
