"Abomination" is strictly relative to one's own point of view, however. What is abominable for a Hindu may be commonplace for, say, an entire society (e.g. "fast food" beef). At the time of posting this article, there are thousands of Iraqis who feel that Bush's invasion and subsequent occupation constitute "abomination," due to the fact that they consider Iraq to be Holy Land. The argument there being that any non-Muslim occupying force desecrates their land just by being there. That argument would be furthered by saying that there was never a plan enacted to secure the welfare of the Iraqi populace or withdraw coalition forces, while lawmakers there are pressured to open oil wells to corporations like Shell, Exxon-Mobil, and BP.

An abomination is anything associated with the worship of false gods or any activity that perverts the way God intended human beings to live and behave. A list of such behaviors may be found in Leviticus 18.

The vagueness of its definition, combined with debates over its validity as a legal argument in United States law (considering the laws would equally apply to non-Christians) has led to numerous problems in recent years[1][2][3][4][5]. Specifically, Lawrence v. Texas suggests that the era of subjective morality-based legislation is at an end.[6]
