Ancient history can be defined as all that happened from the creation of the world until AD 600. Ancient history described creation of many civilizations and revealed many great intellectual breakthroughs. Advances in literature, drama, mathematics, philosophy, and language are just a few of the things which the ancient peoples passed on to succeeding generations. Much of the modern culture and political ideals in western thought can be traced to Ancient Greece.
Some of the mightiest ancient empires in order or appearance are:
- Assyrian Empire
- Babylonian Empire
- Persian Empire
- Alexander the Great (Conquests spreading Greek culture)
- Roman Empire
