George Carlin, is a satirist, actor, and stand-up comedian in the tradition of Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor. Carlin is noted for his trenchant lampooning of various aspects of American culture. Carlin starred alongside Ben Affleck as the grandfather in Jersey Girl.

Many of his jokes poke fun at peculiarities of English language:

Carlin is also an outspoken atheist, and is virulently anti-Christian and anti-religious. He is also a global warming activist, and has blamed the October 2007 wildfires in Los Angeles County on the people, saying that they "invaded the habitat, and are getting theirs."

Quotes

  • "Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of 10 things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these 10 things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send *you* to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever til the end of time...but he loves you."
