The Canucks joined the NHL in the expansion of 1970, but before this the team played in the World Hockey League. The Canucks play in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference at General Motors Place. The Canucks have never won the Stanley Cup but made it to the Stanley Cup finals in 1982 and in 1994.
The current captain of the team is Roberto Luongo, making the Vancouver Canucks the only team in the NHL to have a goalie as captain.
