Houston is the largest city in the state of Texas and the fourth largest city in the United States of America. Houston is the county seat of Harris County, with a population of approximately 1.9 million. Houston is fondly referred to by many as the "Bayou City".
Houston is known for its thriving energy industry and the largest medical center in the country, as well as the second largest performing arts district in the nation.
History
The city of Houston was founded on August, 30 1836. The founders were two brothers named Augustus C. and John K. Allen. They bought 6,642 acres of land near the Buffalo Bayou.

- Michael Dell - Born February 23, 1965, he is a conservative entrepreneur who founded Dell Computer Systems.
- Beyonce Knowles - Born September 4, 1981, Beyonce is a singer and actress. She was a part of the band Destiny's Child for a while. She's also acted in movies such as Dream Girls and the Austin Powers series.
- Dan Rather - Born October 31, 1931. Dan Rather was a journalist and news anchor for CBS Evening News for 24 years.
