Although effective diets, exercise, or medical interventions can rid a person of excess weight, merely having effective methods available to lose weight is not enough; self-discipline is also required. Some people may have a medical condition which makes them more susceptible to a build-up of body fat than others.
Sins such as gluttony and slothfulness can certainly be more effectively conquered with the assistance of Christian faith, exercise, and self-discipline.
