Nicholas Breakspear (b.1100, Abbots Langley, England - d.September 1, 1159, Rome) became Pope Adrian IV of the Roman Catholic Church in 1154. His real name was Nicholas Breakspeare. He is the only Englishman to ever be Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He donated Ireland to the English monarch King Henry II in a papal bull.
