"Derby" is also used as a common word in sports, meaning an important or traditional game between two teams of the same town. Often the derby is considered more important by the supporters of the teams involved than success in the championship. Traditional derbys in European soccer are the Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City and the Milan derby between Internazionale and Milan.
