The Jordan River is a river that flows southward from Mount Hermon, on the Syrian-Lebanese border, through the Sea of Galilee before emptying into the Dead Sea. Nearly 200 miles long, it is the river with the lowest elevation in the world.
The Jordan River is featured frequently in the Bible, being mentioned nearly 200 times. In the New Testament, it is the scene of Jesus' baptism.
