Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V, officially announced on October 25, 2011 is an upcoming installation to the critically acclaimed adult oriented Grand Theft Auto video game series. The debut trailer was released on November 2, 2011 and his since achieved a near viral video status in which one who attempts to type "gta v trailer" into a YouTube search will typically find at least three to five mirrors of the same video. The game is already one of the most anticipated 2012 or 2013 game releases and has stirred up much hype over the internet, so much so that your typical internet addict (a child between the ages of 11 and 19) has encountered problems going a single day without checking Rockstar's news page or GTA Forums.com, a forum site that has catered mainly to children as young as 13 years of age, despite ESRB's "M for Mature" rating that has been assigned to literally all Grand Theft Auto games from Grand Theft Auto III onward. Like many violent video games, the Grand Theft Auto series has been directly linked to acts of adolescent violence in real life.

Political Themes

Despite a lack of release dates or specific information regarding the storyline and plot, the trailer contains may references to income disparity, homelessness the recession and drug dealing. It has been speculated that the game, heavily anticipated by children and teenagers actually revolves around "the disparity between the rich and the poor" and "the problems with capitalism".

While this is not official information as of February 18, 2012, the Grand Theft Auto series and it's writer, Sam Houser has a long history of writing long, elaborate, detailed, and sophisticated scripts with left wing bias. The game is produced in Scotland, a country in the United Kingdom even more left wing than the city of San Francisco. Sam Houser is likely a graduate of a university in which he probably studied politics, English, writing, and all other subjects crucial to his profession.

The hidden media messages in Grand Theft Auto games spread the idea that government assistance and extensive welfare programs increase the standard of living, and that nobody can live a long, healthy life without Canadian style healthcare.

The series has a long history of positive elements as well, such as parodying real life brand names and companies, and shedding a light on real life issues, regardless of the player's political stance, such as the link between fast food and obesity, and people's willingness to purchase prescription drugs without a brand name.
