I'd like to note that, though Finland may be a Capitalist paradise with the best Free Speech in the world, it is also a prime example that those things aren't as closely related to the pandemic as this wiki would have you think. In fact, Finland currently is (in almost every COVID Policy related) way equivalent to the USA, a country which is supposedly having its freedom of speech taken away by evil Communists. For the second year in a row, I am utterly stunned to read that per the findings of some expert jury, the Finns are said to be the happiest people on planet Earth. I believe this determination is made by the same sort of experts who list the 10 best restaurants in the world and make other pronouncements that are utterly silly but generate lines of type in major print media.... I will go straight to the point; the Finns in whose company we were on a river and canal cruise in the Karelia region were alcoholics who spent the whole time on board brown-bagging vodka while they ordered sparkling wine nonstop from the barman; and no sooner did we arrive at our destination in the middle of nowhere than they headed for the hotel bar to top out the day. In the opera, a dead drunk lady whose seat, like ours, cost more than a hundred euros, could not find her seat she was so tipsy. And in the town streets, we saw all too many invalids whose deformities were the consequence of parental alcoholism during pregnancy. Moreover there was a ubiquitous sullenness, absolute lack of communication between people. Along the canals the houses were spread out in such manner as to heighten the isolation of their presumably anti-social inhabitants. If this is happiness then I wonder what sadness looks like!
