Divination is the process of finding answers or forecasting future events or about hidden things. Scrying, dowsing, phrenology, ouija board, tea leaves and entrails are all well known forms or tools of divination.

In Dante's Inferno, divination is the main form of sorcery punished in the eighth circle of Hell. In a good example of contrapasso, the sinners there are punished by having their heads twisted backwards, since they tried to see too far forward while alive.
