Apocalyptica is a cello metal band from Finland. They formed in 1993 when four classically trained cellists attending the Sibelius Academy of Music decided to form an ensemble dedicated to covering Metallica songs. After getting signed to Zen Garden Records after a performance, Apocalyptica began to write original music of their own on top of their covers of classic rock music.
