ClamWin™ is a free, open-source anti-virus program. It is based on the ClamAV™ engine, which is also open-source. ClamWin is fairly popular, as it boasts 600,000 daily users worldwide.[1]
Advantages
- Free of charge, freely usable, and open-source
- Scan scheduling[1]

- Context (Right-click) menu integration[1]
- Addin to Microsoft Outlook which scans e-mail attachments as they arrive
- A portable version is available
Disadvantages
- No real-time guard--regular scans are needed[1]
- Some complain about poor detection rate, although their website boasts the opposite[1]
- Slow scans
- Fewer virus definitions than some other options[2]
