The term Palestinian refers to an admixture of several ethno/linguistic groups from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe who emigrated to the geographical region of Palestine during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The term generally has come to refer mostly to ethnic Arabs, who actually originated from other Middle Eastern countries. Some seek to create a state in parts or all of the geographic region. Those advocating the latter view often advocate the destruction of the state of Israel. Most reside in Gaza, the West Bank, or Jordan. The King of Jordan has refused to grant citizenship to Arab refugees from "Palestine", in part due to political pressure from other Islamic countries.
