Judges (Hebrew: Sefer Shoftim ספר שופטים) is a book of the Bible. It is part of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) as well as the Christian Old Testament. It gives the history of Biblical judges (not to be confused with modern judges), who were elders that ruled and guided the ancient Israelites.
In modern times, a judge is any person who presides over a court case.
