The New King James Version is a translation of the Bible published by Thomas Nelson Publishers in 1982.[1] The preface describes it as a revision of the King James Version that follows Textus Receptus, the Greek text used by the translators of 1611.[2] Other modern translations use the Critical Text, which is based on older manuscripts. Numerous passages translated from the Critical Text are included in footnotes.
The main difference between the KJV and the NKJV is that the NKJV has modernized English words and spellings. Otherwise, all syntax remains the same.
The NKJV is the translation used by the Home School Legal Defense Association in its magazine, The Home School Court Report.
