Andrew Romanoff (born August 24, 1966 in Washington, D.C.) served as Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2005 through 2008. He is currently a candidate for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in the 2010 election.
Romanoff earned a bachelor's degree at Yale and a master's degree in public policy at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He began teaching in Central America and later graduate students at the University of Colorado at Denver's School of Public Affair and political science at the Community College of Aurora. Romanoff was elected to the State House in 2000. He was elected by his colleagues Minority Leader and then Speaker of the House after Democrats took control of the chamber in 2004.
Romanoff is currently challenging incumbent Michael Bennet in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate and would likely face former Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton or District Attorney Ken Buck in the general election.
