Rush made national headlines when he was asked to write 400 words for a newspaper column about Obama's plans.  He said he didn't need 400 words, he needed just four: "I hope he fails." He immediately came under attack as an unpatriotic obstructionist. Rush explained that what he meant was, if Obama is for socialistic policies and against capitalist policies, of course he could not support those policies.
