The Gallup Poll is the oldest polling organization in the world, and is often cited to make a point about politics and human interest stories. The organization was founded by George Gallup in 1934. In October 2024, its highly reputable poll showed a shift to a 31-28% lead in party affiliation for Republicans over Democrats, compared with 31-27% lead by Dems the prior month.[1] The remainder (41-42%) are independents.
Gallup polls have more integrity than most other polls cited by the mainstream media. Some of the best Gallup polls, which are done periodically, include:
- Presidential approval rating, taken ever since Harry Truman[2]
- religious views as they change over time.[3]
