Girls' Generation is a South Korean girl group that was formed in 2007. Their breakthrough hit was "Gee," released in 2009.[1] "Oh!" (2010) has an American football theme.[2] It is the most popular band in Asia, and it consists of nine members. The leader is Kim Tae-yeon. The band is known for coordinated dancing. They sing primarily in Korean, although their songs generally include an English-language phrase or two.

Two of the band's members, Tiffany (Stephanie Hwang) and Choi Soo-young, identify publicly as Christian. Several other members are also thought to be religious on the fact that they have thanked God or a pastor at some point. All of them are at least nominally Christian. Tae-yeon is Catholic and the others are Protestant.[3] Tiffany has been more forthcoming about her religion than any other band member. She is a Korean-American and was born in San Francisco.[4]
