Girls' Generation is a South Korean girl group that was formed in 2007. Their breakthrough hit was "Gee," released in 2009.[1] "Oh!" (2010) has an American football theme.[2] It is the most popular band in Asia, and it consists of nine members. The leader is Kim Tae-yeon. The band is known for coordinated dancing. They sing primarily in Korean, although their songs generally include an English-language phrase or two.

All of the band members are at least nominally Christian. Tae-yeon is Catholic and the others are Protestant.[3] Four of them, Choi Soo-young, Im Yoon-a, Kim Hyo-yeon, and Tiffany (Stephanie Hwang), have joined a fellowship group.[4] Tiffany and Soo-young have confessed their faith in numerous public statements. Tiffany is a Korean-American and was born in San Francisco.[5]
