To summarize, Turkey, Qatar, and post-Assad Syria a swing bloc. Trump and Putin are competing for their favor, in the process abandoning their long-standing policies against Sunni extremism. I personally find it really embarrassing to watch, and I say that in an just world their efforts would blow up in their faces. But this world is not nor has it ever been just. :At this point I fully expect World War III to break out within the next decade. Of course the region where it starts will determine whether it's remembered like World War I or like World War II.
