Sakharov Prize

The Sakharov Prize is a prize, which is given to people or organizations, who fight for human rights. It is named after Andrei Sakharov and is given by the European Parliament.

- 1990: Aung San Suu Kyi, activist against the dictatorship in Burma
- 1991: Adem Demaçi, activist for an independent Kosovo
- 1992: Madres de Plaza de Mayo, organization of mothers, who have lost their children during the military junta in Argentinia
