Sakharov Prize

The Sakharov Prize is a prize, which is given to people or organizations, who fight for human rights. It is named after Andrei Sakharov and is given by the European Parliament.

- 1993: Oslobođenje, newspaper in Bosnia and Herzegovina
- 1994: Taslima Nasrin, activist against the suppresion of women in Islam
- 1995: Leyla Zana, activist for the rights of kurdish people
- 1996: Wei Jingsheng, activist against the chinese dictatorship
- 1997: Salima Ghezali, activist for human rights in Algeria
- 1998: Ibrahim Rugova, activist for an independent Kosovo
