John Oliver

John Oliver is a liberal, British comedian with a satirical weekly news show in the United States, Last Week Tonight. The show is similar to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, where Oliver had previously been a player.

Not surprisingly, not everyone agrees with John Oliver's choice of topics, or his presentation on those topics. His show leans liberal.

In late 2015, he started a fake "church", Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption, in order to satirize Christian pastors that request charitable donations by appearing to promise the donor divine favors in response. This "church" actually received some donations; they were given to Doctors Without Borders, a (real) international humanitarian group. As of September 14, 2015, Oliver has disbanded the church.
