Lucerne

Lucerne or alfalfa is an annual plant of the pea family. It has small clover-like leaves and purple flowers. It is widely used in organic farming as a green manure. The heat-treated seeds of the lucerne plant are used in shamanic medicine.

Lucerne is used to treat:

• arthritis
• asthma
• diabetes
• scabies
• high cholesterol
• indigestion
• kidney, bladder, and prostate problems.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not approve uses of Lucerne for natural remedies, especially allergies and lupus.
