New York Jets
- Some of the information in this article may be outdated.
The New York Jets are an American professional football team. They are part of the American Football Conference (AFC) and play in the AFC East Division.
Founded in 1960 in New York City as an AFL charter franchise (and known as the New York Titans for two seasons), it relocated to Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in 1984.
The Jets were the first team from the AFL (at the time considered the weaker of the two professional football leagues) to win the Super Bowl, Super Bowl III (which was the first such game to actually be called "Super Bowl"; previously the game was known as "NFL-AFL Championship Game"), led in large part by their flamboyant quarterback, "Broadway" Joe Namath who "guaranteed" a win for the team. It is their only appearance in the Super Bowl.
