Ralph Lawrence Carr (December 11, 1887 – September 22, 1950) was a conservative Republican from Colorado who led the opposition to Democrat president Franklin D. Roosevelt's internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. He served as the governor of the state from 1939 to 1943.
Political career
Governor of Colorado
Carr opposed much of the New Deal due to its extensive bureaucracy.[1] He single-handedly railed against a congressional proposal in February 1941 which would have created a program similar to the Tennessee Valley Authority.[2]
