Nuclear chess is a political expression to describe the movement of nuclear weapons amid a military conflict, in order to gain tactical advantage through intimidation and other effects.

"Russia’s game of nuclear chess is worrisome, American officials say,"[1] screamed a headline on Politico on March 27, 2023, amid the NATO war in Ukraine.
