Ordering the Gospels
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Aschlafly (talk | contribs) at 05:37, September 21, 2023. It may differ significantly from current revision.
Ordering the Gospels is an issue worth revisiting, because the current order is based on at least two historical misunderstandings:[1]
- that the Gospel of Mark relied on the Gospel of Matthew, when modern analysis shows the opposite to have been true;
- that the Gospel of Matthew was originally written in Hebrew or Aramaic, which modern scholars reject while observing that its terminology is uniquely Greek (such as his use of "hypocrite"[2])
