A Eurocrat is an official or staff member working within the institutions of the European Union (EU). The term is often used to describe the bureaucrats who administer EU policies and regulations. A Eurocrat has become a symbol of the EU's undemocratic administrative state, much like "Brussels" is often used as a metonym for EU governance.
