Samson (Hebrew: שִ××ְש××Ö¹× Shimshon "of the sun") was a Judge renowned for his great strength. This came from his being a Nazirite since birth. One of the principal vows of the Nazirites was to never cut their hair; when he eventually revealed this to Delilah she betrayed him and proceeded to have his hair cut off by Philistines, who also gouged out his eyes. Used as a slave grinding grain in the mill of a prison, Samson prayed for his strength one last time, and collapsed the pillars of a building, killing himself and hundreds of Philistines.
The story of Samson is told in the book of Judges in the Old Testament of the Bible
